Privacy and local-first data

Privacy Policy

A plain-language explanation of what stays on your device, what a website host can receive, and which services are not active today.

Our local-first principle

FakeIt.Chat is designed so that scene content, names, messages, uploaded media, drafts, saved projects, and generated images are processed in your browser. The current application does not provide accounts, cloud sync, or an application server that receives your scene content.

Like any website, the hosting provider may receive ordinary technical request information needed to deliver a page, such as an IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps, and security logs. Do not place private scene content in a URL or query parameter.

Information stored on your device

  • IndexedDB: projects, recovery drafts, checkpoints, and imported image Blobs.
  • localStorage: small preferences such as editor theme and language.
  • Downloaded files: exports you explicitly save through your browser.

This data is scoped to your browser profile and device. You can remove it using FakeIt.Chat cleanup controls where available or by clearing site data in your browser settings. Clearing browser data may be irreversible.

Media imports and network requests

Files selected from your device are read locally. If you choose to import an image from a remote URL, your browser contacts that remote host. The host can receive normal request information, and its own privacy policy applies. FakeIt.Chat attempts to convert accepted remote media into a local browser asset; blocked, unsupported, or unsafe responses are rejected.

Links you follow from FakeIt.Chat—including GitHub support links—take you to third-party services governed by their own policies.

Analytics, cookies, and advertising

The current repository has no remote analytics transport. Funnel events are allowlisted and remain in the browser unless a future release explicitly introduces a reviewed transport and updates this policy.

Google AdSense is currently in readiness-only mode: ads, publisher metadata, advertising scripts, and ad slots are disabled. If advertising, consent tooling, or remote analytics is activated later, this page will be updated before those services are treated as active.

Security and retention

Local processing reduces transmission of scene content, but no browser application can promise absolute security. Keep your browser and operating system updated, avoid importing untrusted files or URLs, and do not use shared browser profiles for sensitive projects.

Because current project data is browser-local, FakeIt.Chat cannot retrieve or delete it remotely. Hosting and security providers may retain limited technical request logs according to their operational and legal obligations.

Your choices and policy changes

  • Review, export, or delete browser-local projects using available browser and application controls.
  • Block remote image requests by importing only local files.
  • Stop using the service if you do not agree with this policy.

This policy may change when the product, hosting, analytics, advertising, or legal requirements change. Material revisions will update the date shown above. Questions or privacy concerns can be raised through the Contact page.
