Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1

Is FakeIt.Chat free, and do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

FakeIt.Chat is currently free to use and does not require an account. You can open an editor, create a fictional scene, and use supported local exports directly from your browser.

Question 2

Are my messages, names, and images uploaded?

Accepted Answer

Scene content is processed in your browser and is not intentionally sent to a FakeIt.Chat application server. Local files stay browser-local. If you import an image from a remote URL, your browser contacts that remote host to retrieve it.

Question 3

Where are drafts and saved projects stored?

Accepted Answer

Structured projects, recovery drafts, checkpoints, and imported media are stored in IndexedDB in your browser. Small preferences such as theme and editor language use localStorage. They do not automatically follow you to another device or browser profile.

Question 4

How do I delete my local data?

Accepted Answer

Use available project or media cleanup controls, or clear FakeIt.Chat site data through your browser settings. Clearing browser storage can permanently remove drafts, saved projects, preferences, and imported media, so export anything you need first.

Question 5

What can I export?

Accepted Answer

Supported editors can export a high-resolution PNG using the same project state and renderer shown in the preview. Available dimensions and scene controls depend on the selected tool and device or social composition.

Question 6

Does FakeIt.Chat add a watermark?

Accepted Answer

The current local PNG export does not add a FakeIt.Chat watermark. You remain responsible for labeling an output as fictional or simulated whenever someone could mistake it for a real conversation, post, or screen.

Question 7

Is FakeIt.Chat affiliated with WhatsApp or X?

Accepted Answer

No. FakeIt.Chat is an independent fictional mockup tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp, X, or their owners.

Question 8

What uses are not allowed?

Accepted Answer

Do not use FakeIt.Chat for fraud, scams, harmful impersonation, harassment, fabricated evidence, deceptive misinformation, exploitation, privacy violations, or illegal content. Review the Content Policy before sharing a realistic mockup.

Question 9

Does FakeIt.Chat use analytics or advertising cookies?

Accepted Answer

The current repository has no remote analytics transport, and Google AdSense remains disabled in readiness-only mode. If remote analytics, advertising, or consent tooling is activated later, the Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect the active behavior.

Question 10

Which browsers are supported?

Accepted Answer

Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. Storage, image decoding, canvas capture, downloads, and media capabilities vary by browser, so an unsupported feature should show a recovery message rather than silently changing your project.

Question 11

Can I use FakeIt.Chat offline?

Accepted Answer

A network connection is normally required to load the site. Once loaded, many editor operations use local browser resources, but full offline availability is not currently promised and remote image imports still require network access.

Question 12

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Accepted Answer

Use the Contact page to open the project issue tracker. Include the route, browser, operating system, expected result, actual result, and safe reproduction steps. Do not include private scene content or personal information in a public issue.
